Rising Moon
2 oz Cognac
1/2 oz Cointreau
1/2 oz Triple Sec
1 oz Blood Orange Juiced
- approx 1 orange
Rub the flesh of the squeezed orange around the rim of the glass and
turn the glass upside down in a container of sugar to rim the glass.
Mix the above ingredients in a shaker with ice. Pour and enjoy.
Notes: The Rising Moon is a spinoff of the classic Sidecar cocktail born of necessity when I ran out of lemons. I typically use Courvoisier VS because it's just good enough but any decent cognac will do. When I can't get blood oranges I use valencia.
Any orange liqueurs can be used and you can use all Triple Sec rather than mixing with Cointreau. You can even use Blue Curaçao and call it a Lunar Eclipse.
